The Moorabool News

The Moorabool News published a story on the 23th of June 2020 with an interview of the Maher family, whose property has been targeted as one that will be in the path of the proposed high voltage transmission towers.

Kevin, his brother Peter and cousin Basil and Andrew voiced their concerns at a community meeting in Myrniong, against the above ground high voltage transmission lines that are destined to ‘adorn’ their property, and 70-kilometres of the Moorabool Shire. The Mahers raised concerns about the 85m high transmission lines transgressing their property being a monstrosity that will attract lightning strikes and were unsure of how the emissions from the towers would affect their potato produce, which they supply to McCains in Ballarat.

The Mahers also pointed out that the transmission line will traverse the Moorabool district, however no Moorabool residents will benefit from the additional electricity supply, because it will terminate at Sydenham in Melbourne.
